Okay, so… I think I am going to make some kind of mid-year resolution to quit using “busyness” and “tiredness” as excuses…..
…. (Awkward silence) ….
… but not today. I am crazy busy because this is the week before we take our students to summer camp. So I am not sharing any deep, thought provoking ideas today. Here are some more blogs I have been reading lately and added to my google reader within the last month. Enjoy!
Sorry for the no posting lately. As usual I have been pretty busy (seems to always be my excuse). On multiple occasions this week I actually sat down and started to write a post but couldn’t focus because my mind was on all that I needed to do. So I put it aside and went on with my to-do list. To-Do lists are a huge part of my daily life and you can read more about it here.
The number of blogs on my google reader has greatly increased lately and in large thanks to 20somethings.ning.com I have had the opportunity to meet and connected with a lot of 20 Something Bloggers. So there’s not much to read here this week, but here are a couple of blogs I have kept my eye on lately:
20somethingmom (I guess I’m a little partial to this one)
These are definitely not the extent of my google reader blogs but just those that I have added recently. Hope you enjoy the variety of thoughts, opinions and lives. I know I have!
Yes, those are in alphabetical order by first name. Hey, I am an ISTJ, I can’t help it. And now, Compassion International has their own blog! Check these links out. I think you will really enjoy them.
Recently, a lot of bloggers have been discussing, promoting, and sponsoring Compassion International. I have known about Compassion International for a long time and the youth ministry I lead together supports our own child.
In February of this year, a team of bloggers, traveled to Uganda to see the work Compassion International is doing, write and record what they experienced, and share the stories of the millions of children who desperately need help financially, but ultimately need to understand the love and hope of Christ. Anne Jackson was a part of the team and is the reason I knew about the trip.
These videos, below, are videos I wrote and my good friend Grant Downing at LifeChurch.tv filmed and edited for me. I wrote these for a message I did about Missions (both local and international). I think they fit well with this topic.
Where’s your treasure? To sponsor your own child go here!
Hey, I recently discovered and have now joined a great place for community among 20-Something Bloggers. Once you become a member, you can create your own profile, join groups, create community, find other 20-Something blogging friends, join discussions, start discussion and more.
Great place to start, build and continue community with like aged bloggers from all aspects of life. If you check it out, join the group, or already a member… Comment and let everyone know what you think of it all!
Okay, so I had such an incredibly difficult time fixing everything that I just stopped. My apologies. I have been so busy lately and this (after much frustration) was not at the top of the list. I am obviously not very knowledgeable when it comes to internet stuff. But I am back and I almost have it all working again. Having some technical issues still but those will be resolved soon.
Hey, speaking of blogs… if you are interested in starting your own there are some great resources out there for you to get started. Today, I will try to help point you to them and feel free to pass this along to others who you know may be interested.
Go to Terry Storch’s Blog. He is a tech/internet guru and can really help you. Here is post he made about blogging with links to some great tools! –> Terry’s Blog
Terry also helped author a book, The Blogging Church. I have read it and definately recommend the book if you are interested in blogging. It will help answer the questions, “Who should Blog,” “Why blog,” and “How do I blog.” You can find the book on Terry’s blog or go to Amazon Books.
Well, lately it has been all I could do just to keep a regular post going. But things have settled down a little bit and I am ready to get back into true blogging. I haven’t read another blog in over a month, barely had time to check my own. So thanks to all of you who have stuck with me.
As far as the future goes, I am planning on doing several things now that I have learned to use Word-Press a little better.
I plan on setting up an additional page/domain (I’m not sure yet) for family. Include picture, videos and stories from our adventures in Colorado as a family. Not updated as often but at least on a regular basis.
I also would like to one day get to the point where I can have another domain that strictly has youth ministry resources for free. Now there a more than a dozen other websites that you can get free sources and hundreds more that are fairly cheap. But what good does it do me to invest so much time into writing sermons, creating small group material, etc to use once and then sit on it? I am not trying to become famous or start speaking at youth conferences. Just me sharing what I got to those who want it.
Create another page/domain for my students here at KCBC. Try to establish a good online community through blogging. Our future plans are to have small groups use the same material (tailored for a specific group) that they use as they are divided up by age/gender. But they will be able to go online and continue conversations, ideas, thoughts, etc with the entire youth ministry through an online blog. It will also provide them with a calendar of upcoming events and a place to download permission slip forms, registration forms, etc.
Things have been crazy. Sorry for the bad posting schedule. With the holiday break and not having internet access at home it has been a little difficult to blog lately. Anyways, I am back on schedule now. Sorry for all of you who couldn’t sleep waiting on my next post!
